Here are 10 ways you can enhance your personal development by incorporating
these ideas into your daily routine.
1. Find out what you would like to improve.
Are you looking to become better at a specific ability? Find out more about
it. Are you more relaxed? Learn more about it in the books. Want to be more
efficient? Spontaneous? Outgoing? Confident? Confident?
2. Find a mentor.
A mentor could be anyone from a peer who knows something you don't, and you
want to learn, all the way to someone who is more knowledgeable who is willing
to take you under their wing (in exchange for your doing something for or with
them). Mentorship is the fastest way to learn.
3. Take a moment to reflect at the end of each day.
If you really intend to consider self
improvement seriously (and not just, you know, to talk about it) it is
essential to be constantly aware of how you can improve. Reflection and asking
yourself questions about your current circumstances is the best way to learn how
to improve.
4. Make sure you have a consistent practice schedule.
Your lifestyle choices determine the results. It is impossible to live one
day and expect the next. You have to put in place the habits of your day that
will allow the things you want to change to change.
5. Seek out others to encourage and coach you.
Self-development is not just an individual endeavor. The greatest self
improvement can be done with other people. You'll have the chance to develop by
working with people who are doing exactly the same thing.
6. Create a reward/punishment system.
Individuals who want to alter their bad habits must do this. Sometimes, it's
a reward (or punishment) that can make the difference between rapid and
immediate changes, as well as ongoing fleeting promises.
7. Be honest to yourself
It is not possible to effect any significant change just by talking about it.
It's what people find most difficult. It's much easy to get an auto-development
book and carry it around. When you're texting your buddies about your efforts at
being more present, it's easier to state that you're working on becoming more
present. You have to really admit it to yourself. You are the judge.
8. Find role models to look up to.
Self-development isn't easy, and it's important to have access to others for
motivation, inspiration, or even just daily reminders of how you can continue to
progress on your journey.
9. Track your improvement.
A mentor of mine told methat "If you're not able to measure it, don't do it."
It took me a while to comprehend what this meant. No matter how abstract the
subject you're working on, you must discover a way of measuring the progress
you've made. This is the only way you can know whether your progress is heading
going in the right direction, and where you can pivot.
10. Consistency is essential.
personal-improvement doesn't happen overnight. It requires time and effort. It requires persistence to make significant change. This is why it is so hard for individuals. It's not as simple as taking a pill and call it a day. It's not like you do it only one time and you're "fixed." Self-development is a regular practice and lifestyle.
